About Me

Me

I am a recent graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where I studied Religion, and Japanese whenever my busy life allowed.  I’m  a theater buff of the first order whose passion is in directing, as well as an avid writer, poet, and an increasingly enthusiastic runner.

What I’m Doing

Under the auspices of the JET (Japan Exchange Teaching) Programme, I’m working as an Assistant Language Teacher in Elementary and Middle Schools in Aomori Prefecture.

Why Is the Blog Called “Dispatches from the Blue Forest”?

The name Aomori means “Blue Forest” in Japanese. Duh.

I enjoyed your recent letter to The NY Times. I, too, took the road less traveled by . . . and that has made all the difference.
